MAYVILLE – A slew of new COVID-19 vaccination clinics, including booster shot availability, will take place over the next two months in Chautauqua County.
The County Health Department says Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available at all clinics. Vaccinations are provided at no cost; however, residents must bring proper identification and wear a mask.
Clinics will take place at the Chautauqua Lake Central School Bus Garage in Mayville on Tuesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. through October 26.
Vaccinations will also be available at SUNY Fredonia’s Steele Hall on Wednesday, September 15 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Officials say additional clinics will be added to the county health department website as they are planned. No appointment is needed, however, pre-registration is available.
As for vaccine boosters, the health department says boosters may be given to certain immunocompromised individuals, including those receiving active cancer treatment, organ transplant and stem cell transplant recipients.
Furthermore, those with moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency and advanced or untreated HIV are also eligible. Officials say patients should talk with their healthcare provider about their medical condition to see if they need a third dose.
So far, over 68,000 residents countywide have received at least one dose of the vaccine with nearly 62,000 people considered fully vaccinated, according to state statistics.
As for new infections, the county reported 219 new cases of the virus from Friday through Monday, with 374 active. Of those, 31 people are hospitalized with 868 people in quarantine.
Additionally, a new COVID-19 related death was reported on Monday. To date, there have been 10,806 cases of the virus with 10,265 people recovering and 167 related deaths.
