LAKEWOOD – A longtime Lakewood volunteer firefighter has passed away.

The Lakewood Fire Department announced the news in a post on social media.

Member Bruce Clark started his career in 1993 as a teacher at Southwestern School District. When Clark was not in the classroom, he was in the car helping students learning the proper ways of the road as a driver’s education teacher.

In addition to his time as an educator, Clark volunteered helping those in need. He rose through the ranks to Company Vice-President, President and Department EMS Captain.

Once Clark retired from education, he ramped up his efforts with the fire department, receiving an EMT-Basic certification.

It is with this training that he responded to most EMS calls, up until his long-term illness a few years ago.

The Lakewood Fire Department expresses their condolences to the Clark family.
