SHERMAN – An Erie, PA resident is accused of drinking and driving ahead of a crash on Interstate-86 on Monday.

New York State Police says the crash happened in the westbound lane of I-86 in Sherman.

An investigation alleges that 34-year-old Robert Ludwig was traveling west at a high rate of speed when he changed lanes and rear-ended another vehicle, causing him to then strike several guard rails.

The driver of the vehicle struck was taken to an area hospital with chest pain. Police said Ludwig was uninjured.

After failing several field sobriety tests, Ludwig was arrested. Police say he later provided a breath sample of .13.
