CHAUTAUQUA, NY (WNY News Now) – Those involved in a crash between an Amish Buggy and a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputy have been released from the hospital.

The accident happened on Stockton-Hartfield Road in the Town of Chautauqua just after 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Five people who were riding in the buggy at the time have since been released from medical care and are recovering at home.

An investigation found that the buggy met all New York State requirements by displaying a slow-moving vehicle emblem on the rear and two lit lanterns with red lens and white reflective tape.

A sheriff’s deputy, later identified as Dylan Pratt, rear ended the buggy traveling 55 m.p.h. on the unlit road.

The buggy was heavily damaged and the horse had to be put down due to it’s injuries.
