JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) — Gas prices are as up-and-down as the temperatures this winter, but at least this week, it’s working in our favor at the pumps.

According to AAA, the national average gas price rose daily starting on Christmas Eve due to holiday travel and freezing temperatures, but that surge seems to be ending.

Tuesday in Chautauqua County, residents see an average price at the pump of $3.62, which is lower than three weeks ago when Chautauqua County’s average was $3.69 and Cattaraugus County’s was $3.63 a gallon.

A spokesperson for AAA believes that as we head toward February, pump prices will likely dip even further. However, it is likely that the national average prices we saw heading into Christmas may have been the lows for this winter.
