WARREN, Pa. (Erie News Now) — Pennsylvania State Police found 13 dead animals after searching a home in Warren County on Tuesday.
The investigation started Monday when troopers were called to Tidioute Enterprise Rd. in Southwest Township for a welfare check.
Troopers said they found the resident in deplorable conditions with no running water or heat.
A dead goat carcass was found in an enclosed porch of the residence, and a toy poodle puppy and blue macaw parrot were also living at the property, according to State Police.
The homeowner turned over the puppy and parrot to the Warren County Humane Society due to the poor living conditions, troopers said.
State police also spotted a possible goat carcass at a shed on the property, but the homeowner reportedly denied a search of the property.
Troopers obtained a search warrant Tuesday and located 13 dead animals.
The incident is still under investigation and pending review by the county district attorney’s office, according to state police.
