MAYVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man busted with a loaded handgun will spend six-years in state prison.

The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing of Joel Coleman on Monday.

The 21-year-old previously plead guilty in December to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was riding with two other men in February 2022 when the vehicle was stopped for driving without headlights on. During the search of the car, officers recovered two loaded handguns.

This was the first of multiple weapons crimes Coleman was accused of last year. In March, Coleman was arrested following a drive-by shooting downtown.
