CLYMER, NY (WNY News Now) — A threat against a Chautauqua County school has been determined to be fake.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office investigated an email threatening the Superintendent of Clymer Central School on Monday.

Working with the FBI, the department determined the email was part of a statewide thread that appears to be a hoax sent to various Western New York and New York City Schools.

As a precaution, the County Sheriff K-9 units searched the interior and exterior of the school’s building.

Deputies say the matter remains under investigation.
