JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Jamestown’s only ice arena welcomed a new zamboni ice resurfacer to their ranks Monday morning, with a police escort through town.

The massive machine is a step up compared to the establishment’s prior ice resurfaces. Saving costs by being operated on by electricity.

This acquisition has been in the works for the Arena for multiple years now, having to raise a lot of money to purchase the Zamboni.

For Director of operations Craig Hinderleider he says it’s about time Jamestown’s only ice arena got a new ice resurfacer.

“So this is our brand new electric Zamboni,“ explained Hinderleider. “We’ve been waiting probably for 18 months for this day, so we’re super excited it’s here. It’s top of the line brand new ice resurfacer from the Zamboni Company. We got it shipped in late last week and brought it over today.”

As for the rink’s older machine, they will prepare to sell it to another ice arena.

The Zamboni made the trip across the City of Jamestown to its new home guided by a police escort. The new machine will be detailed, sponsored by Shults Auto Group.
