JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Many members of the LGBTQIA+ community share stories of being turned away by family. Luckily, a group of parents are making their way to Pride this year, giving hugs to those who might not have supportive parents to hug.

Free Mom Hugs has attended Pride the past year and Kandis LeBarron is excited to attend this year representing the group.

The organization does their best to offer support during any event involving the LGBTQIA+ community as they recognize that Pride month may be a hard time for some.

“We’re a moms support group to the LGBTQ+ group for those who have parents who aren’t supportive. We like to sub in any type of activity they need, giving free hugs. That’s what we’re all about,” LeBarron said.

The group can be identified by their ‘Free Mom Hugs’ t-shirts that they will be sporting at the festivities this year and are happy to embrace those who need a hug or simply want one from a parental figure.

You can find Free Mom Hugs this Saturday during the Jamestown Pride Festival.
