(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, N.Y. – This winter, Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) is inviting children aged 4-12 to embrace the season through two exciting Holiday Camps, fostering outdoor play, exploration, and winter-themed learning.
The first camp, slated for December 27, caters to ages 5-11, while the second, on December 28, welcomes children aged 4-12. Both camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., providing a full day of winter activities.
Emphasizing outdoor engagement, children are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, preparing for the transformative effects of cold, wind, and ice on the landscape. The day’s focus is on the dual elements of learning and play.
To facilitate a comfortable experience, parents are advised to equip their children with water, snacks, a non-refrigerated lunch, and spare items that may get wet. The cost is $48 per day or $36 for Nature Center members, with an additional $5 discount for siblings.
Due to limited enrollment, reservations are mandatory, with a deadline of December 25 for ages 5-11 and December 26 for ages 4-12.
For more information and registration, contact (716) 569-2345 or visit AudubonCNC.org under “Programs and Events.” Notably, the nature center will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
Located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62, between Jamestown, N.Y., and Warren, Pa., Audubon Community Nature Center provides a 600-acre nature preserve with live birds of prey, a native tree arboretum, natural play spaces, and over five miles of free trails for hiking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing, open daily from dawn until dusk.
The three-story Nature Center building houses interactive displays, a collection of live animals including the Hellbender exhibit, and the Blue Heron Gift Shop. Visitors are welcome Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 1–4:30 p.m. Nature Center members and SNAP/EBT cardholders have free building admission daily. Building admission is also free every Sunday for non-Nature Center members.
