(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a 58-year-old Buffalo man was arraigned this morning before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).
It is alleged that on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Eric M. Hawkins allegedly stabbed the victim multiples times outside of a home on the first block of Connelly Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 39-year-old Glenn Ervin Drue, Jr., was taken by ambulance to ECMC where later died from the injuries.
On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Hawkins was arrested in the City of Rochester by the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force on a sealed indictment warrant.
Hawkins was held without bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.
If convicted of the charge, Hawkins faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department and the US Marshals Service for their work in this investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher S. Safulko of the Homicide Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
