(WNY News Now) – Chautauqua County Deputies responding to a wellbeing check in Ripley, NY, discovered an active warrant leading to the arrest of a 35-year old man on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree.
On Feb 11, 2024, at 4:52 am, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a routine wellbeing check at a Ripley business. During the check, an active warrant for James D. Mawhir of Mayville, NY, was uncovered. Mawhir, 35, was promptly located, arrested, and his vehicle searched, revealing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Transported to Jamestown Police Department, Mawhir was arraigned on charges and subsequently released. He is scheduled to appear in Ripley Court at a later date.
