(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y.  — The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will hold a community forum and resource fair for Cattaraugus County residents living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.

The free event will take place from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Creekside Chapel, 2523 Five Mile Rd. in Allegany.

“No individual or family should navigate the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease alone,” says Chelsea Torgalski, program manager for the WNY Chapter. “This forum is an opportunity to bring together community members affected by the disease and dedicated staff and volunteers to talk about the services available to them.”

A resource fair with information on local services, programs and other forms of support will take place from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by lunch for those registered, then a listening session from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

“We’ll review the basics of Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory loss, the services offered by the Alzheimer’s Association, and how we can expand the reach of local programs and services,” Torgalski says. “Bring a friend and share your thoughts on how the Alzheimer’s Association can help more people in Cattaraugus County.”

Interested individuals are encouraged to register as soon as possible at bit.ly/CattCFMay2024 or by calling 800.272.3900. The event is free and lunch will be provided to those who register in advance.

This program is supported in part by grants from the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation and the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York. The Health Foundation is an independent private foundation that advocates for continuous improvement in health and health care by investing in the people and organizations that serve young children and older adults.
