(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has announced the schedule for spring main water flushing, which is essential for maintaining water quality. Here’s a breakdown of the important information provided:

  1. Pre-flushing in Falconer:
    • Start: 1 p.m. Friday, May 3
    • Areas: Aldren, Mapleshade, Ralph, and Valmeere
    • Entire Village of Falconer flushed from 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4, overnight into Sunday, May 5
    • Discoloration may occur in Falconer and the north side of Jamestown during Falconer flushing.
  2. Main Flushing Schedule:
    • Dates: Monday-Friday, May 6-10; and Monday-Wednesday, May 13-15
    • Exception: Wednesday, May 8, flushing begins at 4:30 a.m. to accommodate downtown Jamestown and Fairmount Avenue businesses.
    • Discoloration may occur, especially in areas near flushing locations.
  3. Customer Communication:
    • Commercial and industrial customers received flushing dates via automatic calls.
    • Residential customers will receive calls two-five days in advance of their flushing days if their phone numbers are current.
    • Questions can be directed to the Flushing Hotline, Customer Service Office, or Communications.

    • Check for discolored water before doing laundry.
    • Avoid pulling discolored water into hot water tanks.
