(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – In a tense standoff on the city’s east side, a Jamestown resident barricaded himself and made threats, prompting swift police action.

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 3:22 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to an east side residence to assist Probation Officers with a home check. Upon their arrival, 43-year-old Robert L. Schroeder, a resident of Jamestown, barricaded himself inside and began issuing threats.

Despite officers’ efforts to deescalate the situation, Schroeder threatened to shoot the officers and refused to comply with their commands. Further compounding the situation, officers confirmed that other individuals were inside the residence, leading Schroeder to threaten them as well.

Given the escalating threats and safety concerns, officers forced entry into the residence. Schroeder was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd and Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd.

Schroeder is currently held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
