Chautauqua Institution Hosts Insightful Discussion on Sustainable Practices
(WNY News Now) – On Wednesday, August 7, Smith Wilkes Hall at Chautauqua Institution will become the epicenter of sustainable innovation as Retool WNY presents a forum on the circular economy. The event, featuring a keynote by Kate Walker, Executive Director of the New York State Center for Sustainable Materials Management (CSMM), promises an engaging exploration of waste reduction strategies.
Kate Walker, a seasoned expert in environmental education and program management, will deliver the opening presentation from 12:15 to 1:45 PM. With nearly two decades of experience, Walker has been a pivotal figure in advancing sustainability initiatives through collaborations with government agencies, universities, and non-profits. Her talk will introduce attendees to the principles of the circular economy—a model designed to minimize waste and make the most of resources.
Following Walker’s presentation, the forum will feature a screening of the film Beyond Zero from 3:00 to 4:30 PM. This documentary delves into innovative approaches to sustainability and climate action. The day will conclude with a reception, offering attendees a chance to network and discuss insights gained from the day’s activities.
The forum provides a unique opportunity for businesses, governments, and non-profits to engage in discussions on overcoming waste challenges and developing collaborative solutions.
