(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that a 57-year-old Kennedy, NY, man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography following a prior conviction. This charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of 20 years, and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who is handling the case, revealed that Jeffrey Paden, 57, was previously convicted in June 2015 on a federal charge of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to 57 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
On August 29, 2023, the New York State Police executed a search warrant at Paden’s residence based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). During the search, several electronic devices were seized, including a thumb drive and a laptop computer. Investigators found approximately 83 images of child pornography on the thumb drive and about 468 images on the laptop. Some of these images depicted prepubescent minors and violence against children.
The guilty plea is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, led by Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, the New York State Police, directed by Major Stanley Edwards III, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.
