(WNY News Now) – Elma – Jamison Road Volunteer Fire Company in Elma, Erie County, receives a vital boost with a $176,171.42 FEMA grant, enhancing their firefighting capabilities and safety measures.

“I’m proud to announce this FEMA grant for the Jamison Volunteer Fire Company, which will strengthen their firefighting capabilities and help ensure the safety of our volunteer firefighters,” said Congressman Langworthy. “This funding will be used to purchase state of the art advanced equipment and safety training that volunteer departments like Jamison would not be able to access without federal support. It’s been one of my top priorities to ensure that our first responders have access to these critical resources.”

Earlier this year, Congressman Langworthy hosted a virtual seminar with FEMA officials to help local fire departments understand the application process for these grants.

According to FEMA, the primary goal of these grants is to enhance the safety and effectiveness of first responders while also improving their ability to respond to emergencies and disasters. They aim to address the evolving needs of first responders, from advanced equipment acquisition and updating aging vehicles to safety improvement and training programs.

Congressman Nick Langworthy represents the 23rd Congressional District of New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben Counties, and parts of Erie County. Visit langworthy.house.gov.
