(WNY News Now) – A 56-year-old Jamestown man was arrested early Sunday morning after police investigated a report of a person allegedly displaying a weapon at an East Side residence.

On June 14, 2026, at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers with the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon responded to an East Side address following a report of a person with a weapon.

According to police, an investigation determined that Robert J. Overton Jr., 56, of Jamestown, allegedly brandished a pistol in the direction of the caller. During the investigation, officers also learned that Overton was the subject of a full stay-away order of protection involving a female connected to the incident.

Police located Overton and took him into custody without further incident. He was charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, both felony offenses, and one count of Menacing in the Second Degree.

Overton was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
