(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, N.Y. – As August draws to a close, Buffalo’s vibrant Bengali community prepares to showcase its rich cultural tapestry at the city’s first-ever Eid Fest.

BUFFALO, NY—The heart of Buffalo’s East Side will come alive with the sights, sounds, and flavors of South Asia on Saturday, Sept. 14, as the Buffalo Central Terminal hosts its inaugural Eid Fest. This cultural celebration highlights the Bengali population’s significant role in enriching the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.

“Eid Fest celebrates Buffalo’s Bengali population – a strong component of the rich diversity of the Broadway-Fillmore area and the greater East Side community,” said Sahi Chowdhury, Vice President of the United Buffalo Foundation and community liaison for the Buffalo Common Council. “This inaugural event will bring people together to celebrate the diversity and talent of local Bengali musicians, food vendors, clothing shops, and jewelers.”

 As of 2023, there were more than 50,000 people from the Bengal region of South Asia, including the nation of Bangladesh, in the City of Buffalo. The majority live in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood. There will be a Facebook Live media conference about Eid Fest on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Buffalo Central Terminal, 495 Paderewski Drive, Buffalo. The conference begins at 4 p.m.

Then, on Sept. 14, gather with us on the grounds of the Central Terminal, 495 Paderewski Drive, Buffalo, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate Bengali music, food, clothing and other aspects of the culture.Performing artists includeMohsin Reza, Reni Seddiqui, and Polash Roy. Vendors include food from RFC, clothing from Mimi’s Fashion, jewelry from Mouchak Fashion, and henna by Farhana Fiha.
