(WNY News Now) – Buffalo – A Buffalo resident facing sexual assault charges is now indicted for an additional crime, raising concerns over public safety.

Lamont K. Love, 34, of Buffalo, has been indicted on new charges of burglary and criminal mischief while awaiting prosecution for an unrelated sexual assault case, according to Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane. Love was arraigned on Tuesday, facing one count of Burglary in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony) and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony).
Authorities allege that Love unlawfully entered an apartment in the city’s Parkside neighborhood during the early hours of February 23, 2024. The victim reportedly woke to the sound of disturbances in their kitchen, discovering a damaged window screen and countertop. Police, responding to the scene, recovered a cell phone and a pair of shoes, linking Love to the crime.
This indictment follows Love’s earlier charges from June 2024, when he was arraigned for an alleged sexual assault in Shoshone Park. According to prosecutors, Love, while riding a bicycle, attacked a pedestrian on March 3, 2024. The victim managed to escape and contacted police, leading to charges of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (Class “D” felony) and Assault in the Third Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor).
Love, currently held without bail in the burglary case, is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on both matters on September 27, 2024, before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan. Temporary protective orders have been issued for the victims involved in both cases.
Acting DA Keane praised the Buffalo Police Department for their investigative work. Prosecutors Daniel J. Mattle and Nicholas Vozzo of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau are handling the cases.
Love is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
