(WNY News Now) – Buffalo – A 19-year-old Buffalo resident will spend 21 years in prison for fatally shooting a man inside his home and stealing his belongings.
Buffalo teenager Thierry Bikorimana, 19, was sentenced to 21 years in prison on Friday, followed by five years of post-release supervision, for the fatal shooting of 44-year-old Demarkus Hodge inside Hodge’s Delavan-Grider neighborhood residence. The sentencing took place before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek.
The incident occurred on December 10, 2023, when Bikorimana shot Hodge with an illegal firearm inside the victim’s home on Grider Street. After the killing, Bikorimana stole Hodge’s television, BB gun, and vehicle. Buffalo Police later discovered Hodge’s body in the basement of the residence.
On July 24, 2024, Bikorimana pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C violent felony.
Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane praised the efforts of Buffalo Police investigators, including Lieutenant Jon Pietrzak, Detectives Mark Costantino and Joe Ruggiero, and Officer Daniel Dustin, for their work on the case.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant District Attorney John P. Gerken, Jr. of the Homicide Bureau.
