(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY – A 52-year-old Jamestown woman was sentenced to three years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for attempted burglary and drug sales.

On September 9th, Judge David Foley sentenced Leanne Calkins in Chautauqua County Court after she pled guilty to multiple felony charges. The convictions stem from two separate incidents. In October 2023, Calkins unlawfully entered an upstairs apartment in the building where she lived and stole various items. Initially charged with Burglary in the Second Degree by the Jamestown Police Department, she later pled guilty to a lesser charge of Attempted Burglary, a class D felony.

Additionally, Calkins was arrested in May by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office on drug-related charges. She pled guilty in July to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A-II felony, after being accused of selling narcotics. Both sentences will be served concurrently.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Molitor. The District Attorney’s Office expressed gratitude to both the Jamestown Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for their work in bringing the cases to a resolution.
