(WNY News Now) – Falconer – Falconer Central School has released a statement following an investigation into a recent bus incident where the driver allegedly showed potential signs of drowsiness while operating the bus.

Stephen Penhollow, Superintendent of Falconer Central School, provided WNY News Now with the following statement from the District after the conclusion of an investigation into the incident:

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Falconer Central School District not only examined a specific matter brought to its attention but requested the opinion of an experienced individual who has not only driven school buses but trains school bus drivers and serves as an expert evaluator. That individual reviewed several occasions and the alleged time in question of the Bus driver and found that ‘All aspects of the driving performance that I witnessed were in accordance with our State’s training and compliance requirements, and I saw no reason to suspect any health or safety issues with the driver performance.’  He further found that the ‘Bus Driver is absolutely safe to operate [the District’s] bus, and to continue providing safe guardianship of the student passengers in [the District’s] custody’ as well as that he ‘would be comfortable if the driver were transporting [his] own kids/grandkids.’”
