(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Jamestown man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for his significant role in a drug trafficking operation involving methamphetamine and heroin, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced yesterday.
Timothy Snyder, 44, was sentenced to 130 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and 100 grams or more of heroin.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, Snyder was a key figure in a drug trafficking organization led by Rocco Beardsley. As a manager and supervisor within the network, Snyder sold, stored, and packaged narcotics; maintained drug ledgers; collected proceeds; and coordinated with other members to distribute methamphetamine and heroin/fentanyl.
The case against Snyder stems from a May 2019 incident in which Jamestown Police stopped a vehicle carrying Snyder and his wife. During a search, officers discovered $8,400 in cash, identified as drug proceeds intended for Beardsley.
Rocco Beardsley has already been convicted and is awaiting sentencing for his role in the drug ring.
This conviction is part of an effort by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which targets the most dangerous criminal organizations in the U.S. through a collaborative, intelligence-driven approach. Agencies involved in the investigation include the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
