(WNY News Now) – A routine street check in Jamestown led to the arrest of a local woman, revealing outstanding warrants and possession of methamphetamine.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Early Saturday morning, November 30, 2024, Jamestown Police officers on patrol in the vicinity of E. 5th Street and Pine Street conducted a street check that resulted in the arrest of Stephanie K. Derby, 44, a Jamestown resident.

Officers recognized Derby and confirmed she had outstanding warrants issued by the Jamestown Police Department. During the arrest, a search of Derby’s person uncovered a quantity of methamphetamine.

Derby was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she was booked on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
