(WNY News Now) – A routine encounter with law enforcement led to the arrest of a Perrysburg resident on an active warrant.
Sheriff Eric A. Butler reported the execution of an arrest warrant on December 11, 2024, at approximately 3:45 PM. The incident occurred on East Main Street in Gowanda, New York, when Jersie L. Silverheels, 23, of Perrysburg, NY, came into contact with New York State Police (NYSP) Collins during an unrelated matter.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that Silverheels had an active warrant issued by the Town of Perrysburg Court. Deputies from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office subsequently arrested Silverheels and transported her to the Town of Persia Court for arraignment. Judge Hebner presided over the proceedings, releasing Silverheels on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Perrysburg Court at a later date to address charges under Penal Law sections 120.14 and 240.26.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
