(WNY News Now) – A tragic Christmas morning blaze on Old Mill Road in Brocton has claimed the life of a 32-year-old man, leaving the community in mourning as investigations continue.
On December 25, 2024, at approximately 5:08 AM, the Brocton Fire Department, supported by mutual aid responders, was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 94 Old Mill Road in the Village of Brocton.
Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the blaze, which had consumed significant portions of the residence. During the operation, they discovered the body of 32-year-old Zane A. Shattuck inside the home.
Following the initial response, the Brocton Fire Chief requested assistance from the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team. A thorough investigation revealed that the fire originated in the ceiling area of the basement. Details about what caused the fire to ignite remain under investigation.
