(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A routine traffic stop in the early hours of January 5th led to the arrest of 41-year-old Tyler A. Perez on drug possession charges, including fentanyl, buprenorphine, and naloxone sublingual films.
At approximately 12:52 AM, officers with the Jamestown Police Department were on regular patrol in the area of Barrett Ave. and McKinley Ave. when they observed Perez driving a vehicle with a suspended registration. Having prior knowledge of Perez’s revoked driver’s license, officers initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, it was revealed that Perez was in possession of fentanyl, a potent opioid, as well as buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual films — both of which are controlled substances.
Perez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Due to a history of missed court appearances, Perez was held pending arraignment. Along with the drug charges, he faces several uniform traffic tickets. Perez is currently charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
