Wyatt Losi of Buffalo admitted to the charge in Buffalo City Court before Judge Tiffany R. Perry. The reduced charge was agreed upon with the consent of the university. The incident occurred on August 22, 2024, at approximately 11:37 a.m., when Losi, then a student at Canisius, posted the threatening message. Authorities acted swiftly, identifying and arresting the suspect shortly after the post was made.

Losi remains released on his own recognizance as the charge is a non-qualifying offense for bail. A temporary stay-away order of protection bars him from being near the university.

The defendant faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail at his sentencing, scheduled for March 11, 2025. Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane praised the Buffalo Police Department Threat Management Unit, particularly Detective Nicole Wrazen, for their quick response and thorough investigation.

Assistant District Attorney Kevin L. Southern of the Felony Trials Bureau prosecuted the case.
