(WNY News Now) – Jamestown Mayor Kim Ecklund has attempted to reassure residents after a City employee was arrested for allegedly crashing a City plow truck into a street sign while drunk and refusing to comply when an officer attempted to stop him.

Jamestown, N.Y. – Jamestown Mayor Kim Ecklund has provided a comment regarding an incident at approximately 12:56 a.m. on Monday, January 13, where City employee Jeremy G. Dossey allegedly crashed a City plow truck into a street sign while driving under the influence of alcohol. When an officer attempted to stop his vehicle, Dossey allegedly refused to comply, driving several blocks before coming to a halt. After reportedly failing sobriety tests at the scene, Dossey was arrested and charged with DWI.

“We are aware of the incident involving City employee, Mr. Dossey in the early morning hours of January 13th and are investigating such. The City does not comment on matters of personnel during the investigation process. Rest assured that the City does everything within its power to provide safe services to City residents and visitors. Members of the City Department of Public Works who hold CDL licenses are routinely subjected to random drug and alcohol screening as well as have a myriad of resources available for health issues.”
