(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective until 7:00 PM EST today, warning of lake effect snow and challenging travel conditions.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for southern Livingston and northern Allegany counties until 7:00 PM EST on Tuesday, January 14. Residents in the region should prepare for lake effect snow with accumulations ranging from 2 to 5 inches in the most persistent bands.

Winds gusting up to 30 mph are expected, creating areas of blowing and drifting snow. This will likely result in slippery road conditions and reduced visibility, especially in open areas.

The greatest snowfall accumulations are expected across southern Livingston and northern Allegany counties. Drivers should monitor local conditions and allow extra time for commutes.

To assist meteorologists and local authorities, residents are encouraged to submit snow reports through the NWS website or social media platforms.
