(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective until 7:00 AM EST on Friday, January 17. Residents in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties should prepare for hazardous travel conditions due to accumulating snow.

- Snowfall Amounts: An additional 3 to 5 inches of snow is anticipated, with the heaviest accumulations expected along the Chautauqua Ridge and Boston Hills.
- Timing: Snowfall will intensify late Thursday afternoon, persisting through the evening and into the first half of the night.
- Impacts: Roads will likely be snow-covered and slippery, with reduced visibility posing a challenge for drivers. The Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes are expected to be particularly hazardous.
