(WNY News Now) – The Jamestown Jackals have notched another victory into their belts as they continue through their freshman season in the Basketball Super League (BSL), an international league comprising teams in the United States and Canada.

Jamestown, N.Y. – The Jamestown Jackals prevailed 127-109 over the London Lightning during yesterday’s home game at JCC. This win brings the team to an even 6-6 record in the Basketball Super League 2024-25 season. It also continues a trend of hometown dominance, with the team now holding a 6-1 record this season when playing home games.

The Jackals started strong, putting up 32 points in the 1st quarter, taking an early 9 point lead. They strengthened their lead in the 2nd quarter, adding 34 points for a score of 66-49 going into the second half of the game. After adding another 36 points in the 3rd quarter to expand their lead to 102-80, the Jackals finished with 25 points in the 4th quarter, ending the game with a 18 point lead.

This season marks the Jackals’ first with the Basketball Super League (BSL), which they joined late last year after spending 6 seasons in The Basketball League (TBL).

In a pre-game interview, Jackals coach Raheem Singleton emphasized that the league operates at a higher level than the TBL, which means that players have to put more time in to prepare. “On paper, every team’s evenly matched.” said Singleton. “Every team’s got good players. And so you’ve got to be ready and making sure these guys understand the process of doing their homework.”

As the team continues through the season with the hopes of a playoff appearance, one thing is certain: the Jackals can hang with the big dogs.
