(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown woman was taken into custody after a three-year-old child under her supervision was found wandering near a busy street.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers responded to a north-side residence on February 12, 2025, at approximately 9:57 p.m. for a report of a missing child. Upon arrival, officers determined that Beverly L. Campbell, 64, had failed to retrieve the child after the toddler left the home. Authorities stated that Campbell waited about 20 minutes before taking any action and did not contact the police.
Officers also observed that Campbell appeared to be intoxicated. She was subsequently arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Campbell was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
