(WNY news Now) – Free Alzheimer’s Program in Salamanca to Educate Public on Warning Signs and Early Detection.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will hold an educational program in Salamanca on the common warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia and the importance of early detection.
The free program, “Know the 10 Warning Signs,” will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, at the Seneca Nation Indians Library, 830 Broad St., Salamanca.
Facilitators will discuss how to recognize common signs of the disease; how to approach someone about memory concerns; the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis; possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, and free local resources available through the Alzheimer’s Association.
“With last year’s FDA approval of the drug Leqembi to help people in the early stage of Alzheimer’s, timely diagnosis is more important than ever and gives people the opportunity to make choices about their health and future,” says Andrea Koch, director of community outreach at the WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Participants can register online at bit.ly/K10SENFEB25 or by calling 800.272.3900. The program is supported, in part, by a grant from the New York State Department of Health.
