Timothy D. Brown, also known as Timmie Brown, 48, was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Carrie Phillips on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He faces one count of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, a Class E felony under New York State Agriculture and Markets Law, and one count of Harassment in the Second Degree, a violation.

Authorities allege that on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Brown intentionally struck a male Pug named “Goji” multiple times inside a residence on Shields Avenue. The victim, who shared the home with Brown, discovered the deceased puppy and contacted 911. The alleged incident caused distress to the victim.

Brown was released on his own recognizance, as the charges do not qualify for bail under New York State law. A temporary order of protection was issued for the victim, along with a “no animal” order preventing Brown from owning or caring for animals while the case is pending.

A felony hearing is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. If convicted, Brown faces up to two years of incarceration.

DA Keane commended the Buffalo Police Department and the SPCA Serving Erie County for their investigative efforts. Assistant District Attorney Megan E. Mahoney of the Animal Cruelty Unit is prosecuting the case.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
