(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A Jamestown man was arrested early Friday morning after police responded to a reported burglary in progress on the westside of the city.

At approximately 1:12 a.m. on March 7, officers from the Third Platoon arrived at the scene and heard movement inside the building. Shortly after, a male suspect fled through a rear door but was quickly apprehended by perimeter officers.

Authorities identified the suspect as Mark R. Burch Jr., 32, of Jamestown. Investigators determined that Burch had damaged property while unlawfully entering the building. He was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools, and resisting arrest.

Burch was transported to the City Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
