(WNY News Now) – Jamestown Police arrested a 31-year-old man early Saturday morning after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars in property from a South Side residence.

JAMESTOWN – A homeless man is facing felony charges after police say he stole more than $3,000 worth of property during a late-night visit to a South Side home.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon responded to a larceny complaint around 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, May 17. The incident occurred at a private residence on the city’s South Side.

Through investigation, officers identified the suspect as Trea L. Buchanan, 31, who had been visiting the home. While inside the residence, Buchanan allegedly stole items valued at over $3,000 before leaving the scene.

Police were able to locate Buchanan elsewhere in the city shortly after the complaint was filed. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

Buchanan has been charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree, a felony under New York State law. He is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
