(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to a scheme to steal mail using a stolen U.S. Postal Service key, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced.

Antonio Jones, Jr., 25, entered a guilty plea before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. to conspiracy to commit mail theft and possession of a postal service key. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz M. Wright, Jones conspired with Eric Michael Robinson and Lamor Runell Bolden to steal mail from official USPS mail receptacles. On October 2, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Jones and his co-conspirators traveled to a mail facility in Cheektowaga. Robinson, who was driving, parked behind a row of blue collection mailboxes. Jones and Bolden exited the vehicle, and Jones used the stolen key to access the mailboxes while Bolden stood lookout. After retrieving the mail, they fled the scene in the vehicle.

Shortly after the theft, law enforcement stopped their car and discovered multiple opened and unopened pieces of mail inside. During the investigation, Jones admitted to participating in similar mailbox thefts at other locations throughout the Western District of New York.

Robinson and Bolden were previously convicted for their roles in the conspiracy and are currently awaiting sentencing.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, led by Special Agent-in-Charge Ketty Larco-Ward of the Boston Division, and the Cheektowaga Police Department, under the direction of Chief Brian Coons.

Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on October 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. before Judge Sinatra in Buffalo.
