Heavy thunderstorms prompt urgent flash flood warning through 4:45 PM
(WNY News Now) – WESTERN NEW YORK — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Flash Flood Warning for west central Chautauqua County, in effect from 12:41 PM to 4:45 PM EDT on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
As of the time of the alert, Doppler radar detected thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the affected area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain had already fallen, with up to an additional inch expected. Flash flooding is already underway or anticipated to begin shortly.
Areas at Risk
Communities including Ripley are at risk of flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, urban centers, streets, highways, and areas with poor drainage.
