No injuries reported after fire displaces residents; suspect held pending arraignment

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown woman has been charged with felony arson following a structure fire that occurred Saturday evening on the city’s south side.

On June 28, 2025, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon responded to a reported structure fire at a residential complex. Upon arrival, investigators determined the fire had been intentionally set.

Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Amber J. Hitchcock, a resident of the affected building. According to authorities, Hitchcock allegedly ignited the fire while other tenants were still inside the residence. All occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Hitchcock was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. She is charged with Arson in the Second Degree, a felony offense, and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

The Jamestown Fire Department assisted in both the response and investigation. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
