Three 17-year-old males receive six-month incarceration and probation for violent attack on 15-year-old at city park.

(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, NY – Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that three 17-year-old males from Buffalo were sentenced on Monday, June 30, 2025, for their roles in a violent assault at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

The adolescent offenders, all adjudicated as youthful offenders, were each sentenced by Youth Part Judge Brenda Freedman to six months of incarceration followed by five years of probation. The sentencing follows a plea agreement entered on March 20, 2025, in which all three pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D violent felony.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 29, 2024. At approximately 2:55 p.m., the three teens, acting in concert, repeatedly punched and kicked a 15-year-old male victim near North Parade Avenue at MLK Park in Buffalo. The victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported by ambulance to Oishei Children’s Hospital, where he remained hospitalized for several days.

As part of the sentencing, Judge Freedman issued final orders of protection for the victim, his parent, and multiple witnesses. These protective orders will remain in effect until June 2033.

District Attorney Keane acknowledged the Buffalo Police Department for its efforts in the investigation. The case was prosecuted by Chief Noha A. Elnakib and Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Marino of the Raise the Age/Motor Vehicle Theft Insurance Fraud Unit.
