Police say suspect took merchandise without paying
(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, N.Y. — A Jamestown man is facing a petit larceny charge following a reported shoplifting incident at Runnings in the Town of Ellicott.
According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, 35-year-old Westley P. Bennett was charged with Petit Larceny on June 6, 2025. Officers responded to a complaint of shoplifting at the Runnings store, where it is alleged that Bennett took merchandise and left the premises without paying.
Following an investigation, Bennett was located and processed at the Ellicott Police Department. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
