Jamestown Police charge local resident with first-degree grand larceny in decade-long theft investigation.

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY — A Jamestown man has been arrested for allegedly stealing over $1 million from his longtime employer in a major grand larceny case that spans more than a decade.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, 60-year-old Paul A. Weinstein was taken into custody on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. following a joint investigation with the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office. He has been charged with Grand Larceny in the First Degree.

The investigation revealed that Weinstein, a resident of Jamestown, is accused of orchestrating a long-term theft from Ben Weitsman of Jamestown, a business located at 610 West 8th Street, where he was employed. Authorities believe the stolen amount exceeds $1 million and may reach several million dollars.

Weinstein was arraigned in Jamestown City Court, where he was remanded to custody on $50,000 cash bail or a $100,000 property bond. The case remains open, and investigators say additional charges are expected as the inquiry continues. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
