Authorities say a Hamburg man sent a threatening email to a member of Congress, warning the recipient to “be afraid for your life.”

(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — Gerald T. Przybylski, 78, of Hamburg, NY, has been arrested and charged with transmitting threatening communications across state lines after allegedly sending a violent email to a sitting member of the U.S. House of Representatives, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Federal prosecutors say Przybylski used email to issue threats against the lawmaker on June 13, 2025. Among other things, the email stated, “You are obviously unaware of the movement to execute Trump and all his Republican sycophants, not assassination but legal execution under the Constitution of the United States, which you, Donald Trump, and all your Republican colleagues have refused to honor, you have betrayed your oath of office and are a TRAITOR!!!” The email also “You should be afraid for your life!!!” When interviewed by law enforcement, Przybylski stated, “I was probably trying to scare him.”

When later interviewed by law enforcement, Przybylski admitted, “I was probably trying to scare him.”

The charge—transmitting threats in interstate commerce—carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Przybylski appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was released on conditions pending further proceedings.

The investigation was conducted by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Capitol Police.









Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly is prosecuting the case.

Authorities emphasize that a criminal complaint is only an allegation. Przybylski is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
