Ellicott Police Respond to Report of Theft at Local Retail Store

(WNY News Now) – TOWN OF ELLICOTT – A Jamestown man has been charged with petit larceny following a shoplifting incident at the Target store in the Town of Ellicott.

According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers responded to a past-tense shoplifting complaint on July 9, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Scott E. Moore of Jamestown, allegedly entered the store, concealed merchandise, and exited the premises without paying, passing all points of sale.

Following an investigation, Moore was charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor under New York State law. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to answer the charge. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
