(WNY News Now) – Two men have been arraigned on felony charges following a shooting that injured a toddler during a domestic incident in Erie County.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced the arraignment of two individuals in connection with the shooting of a 2-year-old child that occurred on Sunday, July 20, 2025, inside a residence on Lackawanna Avenue in the Village of Sloan.
Shannon Rose, 19, of Cheektowaga, was arraigned before Cheektowaga Town Justice John Wanat on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class “D” violent felony, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class “E” felony. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court for a felony hearing on Friday, July 25 at 9:30 a.m. If convicted of the top count, Rose faces up to seven years in prison.
Marcus Oluwa, 20, with no permanent address, was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge John Feroleto on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class “D” felony). Bail was set at $50,000, and he is also scheduled to appear on July 25 at 9:30 a.m. If convicted on the most serious charge, Oluwa could face a maximum of 15 years in prison.


According to investigators, the toddler was injured when a firearm was recklessly discharged during a domestic dispute involving adults inside the home. The child’s current condition has not been publicly released.
District Attorney Keane credited the Cheektowaga Police Department, Buffalo Police Department, and New York State Police for their swift and collaborative investigation into the incident.
Assistant District Attorneys Timothy Garvin and Frank Strano of the Major Crimes Bureau are prosecuting the cases.
As with all criminal cases, both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
