Police say driver had child in vehicle during early morning traffic stop

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown woman is facing multiple charges, including Felony DWI under Leandra’s Law, after police stopped her vehicle in the early morning hours of August 8, 2025.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the Third Platoon observed a black sedan leaving the area of a business on the city’s south side at a high rate of speed around 2:54 a.m. Police say the vehicle struck a curb before coming to a stop at the intersection of Hazeltine Avenue and Myrtle Street.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Jastic M. Anzalone of Jamestown, was found to have a child in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Following an investigation, officers determined she was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Anzalone was taken into custody and charged with Felony DWI under Leandra’s Law, Aggravated DWI, multiple traffic violations, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She is currently awaiting arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Leandra’s Law, enacted in New York State in 2009, makes it an automatic felony to drive while intoxicated with a passenger age 15 or younger in the vehicle.
